Congratulations Ramapo College Graduates!

At Arching and Commencement, you will wear academic attire (regalia) that continues the traditions that began hundreds of years ago. The gowns, hoods, and hats date from medieval times and indicate the wearer is an educated person. We are proud that all of the regalia worn by Ramapo graduates will be environmentally sensitive. It is made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles!

In the effort to remain “green” on campus, the line of Commencement wear – named GreenWeaver® – is made of fabric spun from molten plastic pellets. For every Ramapo College graduate participating in these events, an average of 25 plastic bottles will have been used to manufacture the cap, hood, and gown. With some 60 million plastic bottles going into U.S. landfills every day, Ramapo College – and our graduates – are helping to turn trash into keepsakes.

Since 2015, Ramapo has helped to divert OVER 301,500 plastic bottles from landfills!

Graduating Students should wear their regalia which includes the Ramapo Stole and Zipper Pull at the Arching and their respective Commencement Ceremony.

Every graduating student will receive a Ramapo College Zipper Pull Medallion in their regalia package.  

Attach the zipper medallion to your gown to show off your Ramapo pride at graduation!   

After Commencement, you can clip it on your keychain, jacket, gym bag, handbag or suitcase bringing our love of Ramapo everywhere you go.  

This year you have a choice to order your regalia and pick it up at the Grad Fair on April 18 or you may have your regalia shipped directly to your home. (S&H fee applies) you still must attend the April 18 Grad Fair to pick up your Ramapo stole which is part of your regalia attire.

Important Dates:

• March 15, 2024 – Last day to order your regalia for pick up at the Grad Fair (April 18)

• April 18, 2024 – Grad Fair: SAVE THE DATE – All students should plan to attend in order to receive their Ramapo Stole.

• April 22, 2024 – Last day to order your regalia to be shipped Home - you still must attend the April 18 Grad Fair to pick up your Ramapo stole.

• May 22, 2024 – Graduate Programs Commencement Ceremony (Bradley Center Arena)

• May 23, 2024 – Arching Ceremony (On Campus)

• May 29, 2024 – Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony (Prudential Center)
